Mike Bloom’s Summary

After graduating from High School and College, I was in management or sales positions for almost 16 years. Then in 1999, I fell into a painter position. I've been a painter now for 9 summers and 8 winters. I can't say that I've seen it all but I've done hundreds of paint jobs. If you hire Piece of Cake Painting, you will benefit from that vast experience and commitment to quality.
Exteriors:
We scrape and sand or both to a smooth bare surface, what I call resurfacing, in order to have the paint adhere once again to a solid surface. Otherwise your paint will blister or peel or bubble. We then prime with an alkyd or latex primer and then apply two coats of quality paint. Not only will your house look great, the paint ain't going nowhere. (To put it bluntly).
Interiors:
We protect your floors and furniture, begin prepping by filling and sanding blemishes, sand the ceilings or walls before painting, caulk cracks, then apply 2 coats of quality paint. We use quality paint and low VOC (environmentally friendly) products. On trim we fill holes, sand, prime and caulk then use Satin Impervo by Benjamin Moore.
That's what I've learned over the last 9 years. Quality prep = quality paint job.
What I want to accomplish is successfully running this company with a great team of long term employees working 45-50 weeks per year. Doing as many projects as we can, and someday, I retiring with pride.

Mike Bloom’s Specialties:

Turning bad conditions into "wows", either inside or outside. I love seeing cracking, peeling or bubbling exteriors transformed into smooth, like new exteriors. We personalize many interiors with color and restore original surfaces for repainting for fabulous results and fine finishes. I like hiring the right guys for the job, training them, managing a crew, and seeing happy customers admiring our work.

You may have heard of LeTip, self employed folks and/or professionals networking with other on a weekly basis with the intention of "tipping" each other in order to grow own business and help others do the same. Each member is exclusive in their field so there are no conflicts. Many of us like to refer other professionals when asked by clients or friends if we know of someone in another field. So LeTip is an organized and rigorous way for us to do that. You get to know other professionals and you have the opportunity to develop better public speaking skills. The Capitol Hill LeTip rocks!

For 3 years I was a painter, for 5 years more I lead the crew in painting projects under the instruction of the owner of the business. Projects included simple, one or two wall projects, to complete interiors and complete exteriors. Involved were personnel skills, technical skills, inventory control, tracking billable and extra hours, developing vendor relationships, hiring, training and managing up to 5 skilled and unskilled workers. On occassion, I participated in planning sessions for marketing and in implementation of direct marketing. I was also responsible for driving the company van and for all equipment that belonged to the company including any rented equipment.

Chris and I worked as a team to solve individual and group issues, on a personal level. He is a thoughtful and powerful person with integrity and yet I would not want to be on the otherside of his enthusiasm. His attention to detail and quest for information makes him a great partner for powerful people. Don't let that smile undo you.
