Michelle Flowers, M.A.'s Summary
Michelle Flowers’s work and life are focused on promoting cross-cultural education through research, media and service. To this end, she has worked in a variety of arenas that reflect her desire to further diversity and understanding. She serves as an applied anthropologist with specialized training in the visual aspects of culture and community development in various parts of the world. Her work has taken her to several countries including Australia, Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, and various locations in the United States.
Beyond her research and training curriculum development pursuits, a multi-talented and media-minded individual, Michelle is also an accomplished actor and has completed commercial acting work on national and international campaigns, most recently, Exxon/Mobile, Coca-Cola, Toyota, Budweiser, Canon Cameras, ProActiv, and the United Nations. In addition, she works behind the camera as a producer of documentaries and television programming.
Demonstrating her commitment to education, Michelle is a Board Member of The People’s School in Kasoa, Ghana. Founded in 2006 by Education Administrator, Janet Preston, of Seattle, WA, The People’s School offers a high-quality grade 1-8 education to local youth, and promotes academic excellence through instruction in higher thinking skills, African history and community activism. Personally, Michelle practices the Buddhist faith and serves as a unit leader for a local group. She also manages a Buddhist-oriented blog that shares insights from spiritual teachers of the faith.
