Geek Aid+ was Inspired by a group of friends who held a private party in 2005, unofficially dubbed "GeekAid", the cause then was simply to spoof the plight of computer geeks and the only beneficiaries of the revelry were the attendees. Afterwards, in a rare and unexplained moment of serious reflection, the founding "Geeks" decided to take the GeekAid event to the next level in order to make a true difference for the West Michigan community in 2006 by becoming a real charity by obtaining our 501c3. We allocate our profits to providing college scholarships to underpriveleged kids in the Grand Rapids Area.
I was Board Member 2006/2007 and continue to work with other members to solicit sponsorships, marketing, planning the event, printing materials and spreading the word about what Geek Aid is and it's purpose.
