Believes in using the power of new and traditional media to spur social change. Michael is a 2008 Master's Degree graduate of The New School's Media Studies Department program, where he began to study the critical role media plays in the democratic process.
He helped launch the Religion, Faith & Values program at the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, as the first Religion, Faith & Values fellow. Prior to his media advocacy work, Michael was an editor for a daily newspaper in southwest Iowa, the Creston News Advertiser.
Michael remains interested in the transformational power of media to help people connect to their communities, improve lives and spur social change. .
