San Francisco Bay Area
I have composed several concert works for orchestra, chorus and other forces, as well as two film scores. I am working on my third musical theater work, and simultaneously developing a proposal for a new opera based on a bestselling novel and film of the early 1960's.
I teach musicianship, theory and composition in the Preparatory Division at the San Francisco Conservatory. As a private teacher I offer lessons in composition, counterpoint, theory and musicianship with a focus on ear training using Kodály-flavored solfège techniques. I have participated on adjudication panels for several Bay Area-based composition competitions and grants.
OTHER EXPERIENCE FYI
I am fluent in HUNGARIAN and worked as a translator/editor for The Hungarian Observer 1990-1992. I have created English translations of libretti of two Hungarian operas, including Bartók's BLUEBEARD'S CASTLE, which was used for supertitles by Berkeley Opera in 2008.
