The Rotating Staff Assignment (RSA) is a full time month long assignment to an IBM executive. As the RSA I had the opportunity to better understand the roles and responsibilities of an IBM executive. In this program I focused on learning through shadowing an IBM executive, Walt Ling, as he performed his day-to-day job responsibilities. As an RSA, I was able to gain visibility and understanding to the general responsibilities of an executive as well as the specific issues that an executive addresses. I meet one-on-one with each of the direct reports to gain a better understanding of the organization, attended all staff meetings, and attended all other pertinent meetings. During the assignment period I also learned through collaboration with staff members and assigned projects.

Lead implementor of the IBM i 6.1 ISV enablement program. This included working with ISVs and customers, organizing the team, defining tasks, tracking and reporting progress, and delivering the results on time and within budget. As part of the work, I interacted with and influenced people outside of my organization, using discretion and independent judgment.
As the PHP mini-team leader in 2007, I led a cross organizational team. PHP was a new development language and deployment environment on IBM i. A whole set of collateral needed to be developed, to enable IBM’s ISVs to exploit the technology. The PHP for System i Workshop was created and delivered in person, remotely, and through other forms, such as articles and redbooks. I led the PHP for System i workshop creation, world wide delivery, and dissemination.

As a Staff Software Engineer I diversified my technical talents, from tools to languages. I led a small team, composed of senior level IBMers, focused on graphical user interface enablement of solutions. I contributed to project planning activities within my organization. I was responsible for accurate and thorough documentation of ISV engagements.
I developed and presented material for multiple workshops, published a range of collateral, including external papers, online labs, white papers, and enhanced IBM’s self enablement web content.
I led the effort of integrating third-party tool providers, in addition to IBM middleware and tools, into the iSeries Developer Roadmap from concept, to initial recruitment. As part of the work, I influenced people across IBM.
