netrating:
"NetRating market is comprised of websites that allow users to voice their opinions on a variety of topics by casting a vote online by one member posting information and other users voting on that information. For example: On RateMyTeachers.com, high-school students post the names of their teachers, fellow students visit the site and grade that teacher on a scale of one-to-ten as well as provide informative comments about that teacher.
My first NetRating site, RateMyFace.com, was developed while I was still a student at the University of Maine. When I developed the concept, I expected it could sweep quickly through the Internet. To date, millions have used the site, and it has spawned thousands of imitators, including the more popular HotorNot (now a television show) and the Rate a Buddy program that is popular on AOL. Through the success and wide ranging press-coverage of this site, I was able to garner the capital to launch infiniteMEDIUM, Inc, which had the loftier goal of selling Internet community software through franchising agreements. Our largest investor was a technology law firm in Washington DC that was interested in the new legal groundwork we were laying for franchising online.
Leveraging the millions of users of RateMyFace.com, we formalized 650 different ratemy___.com websites into The RateMy(TM) Network, an integrated array of community websites; each devoted to a particular interest (e.g. pets, vacations, legal services, basically anything). Franchisees would buy into the vast network, instantly having access to potentially thousands of already registered users who were familiar with and enjoyed the NetRating concept. Each website was devoted to a specific target audience, making it easier to derive value through sponsorships and partnerships. I no longer own the RateMy(TM) Network, though I am an owner of RateMyTeachers.com

PeekYou profiles help people to find your websites, social-networking pages, online photos, and anything else related to you that might be on the internet. However, unlike conventional search engines which use robots to find websites, people control what appears on PeekYou. The ultimate goal of PeekYou is to become an open source directory of every individual who is online, with bookmarked links showing where each person in the world has a presence online. Once we achieve a critical mass, people will use PeekYou instead of Google to search for people on the internet.
