Two and a half decades ago I was a flat broke, high school drop-out pushing a lawn mower for 6 bucks an hour.
Frustrated, scared and broke and having no real skills I took the only job I could find , selling vinyl siding for straight commission. Lacking any sales knowledge I read everything I could on sales and marketing.
I dedicated my spare time to learning all I could about publicity and other low cost ways to get exposure for my products. I took my new knowledge and began a very successful career as a stockbroker in Atlanta as I continued to hone my media and marketing skills.
I interviewed reporters and producers. I read every book on the subject - I "studied" day and night.
Then I founded a small business, then another. In time small mentions in newspapers became feature articles then television and radio interviews.
Over the years my results and my ability to get massive amounts of free exposure caught the attention of business owners and I was being asked to share my strategies. So I began teaching business people how to harness the power of the press to get publicity for any product, service, company or cause.
Twenty some-odd years later I'm still a high school drop-out but now I regularly consult to large companies and speak at business, association, and trade organization events around the world
My ideas have been featured in publications like Forbes, Entrepreneur, Selling, Sales and Marketing Executive Report as well as hundreds of Business Journals, industry publications, newsletters, and newspapers across the US and Canada.
I'm frequently interviewed on radio and television and host a talk radio program. My ideas are taught in college business courses, and can be found in Ezines, Blogs, and business training sites across the net.
Today I still have no High School Diploma. My credentials are my results. Unlike others that teach similar information I lived it! And still use it today.
I teach business owners, entrepreneurs and sales professionals how to get free exposure for their business. As well as other low cost and no cost creative marketing tactics

My experience is simple. I failed a lot. Learned from my poor choices. Made changes, tried again until I got it right. I'm probably the only person in the US that teaches how the media works that never actually worked in the media. Unlike many others that teach these kinds of strategies I learned what I teach out of desperation and years of trial and error.

Unlike so many people on this site I'm a high school drop out. Everything I learned - I learned the hard way. I'm completely self taught. Although I'm not proud of my "formal education" background I can't hide from it. Frankly I'm thrilled with what my life has become and the amazing things I have accomplished. Twenty five years ago I was pushing a lawn mower for minimum wage. Since that time my ideas have been featured in every major business publication in the US and on radio and television from coast to coast. Not too bad for a semi literate redneck from Alabama!
