International Data Group (IDG) selected media executive Michael Friedenberg as president & CEO of its CXO Media subsidiary in July of 2005. In his current role, Friedenberg is in charge of continuing CXO Media's growth and helps adapt its CIO and CSO (chief security officer) brands in a fast changing environment while also building the company's CIO Executive Council.
Prior to coming on board at CXO, Friedenberg was a part of CMP Media's technology publishing and events businesses for nine years. During his IT media career, Friedenberg has advanced from sales management positions to VP/publisher of CMP Media's flagship brand, InformationWeek, and VP/group publisher of the InformationWeek Media Network and co-founder of Optimize magazine. As VP/group publisher he set the vision, strategy, and positioning of multiple brands across print, online, events, and research services. Most recently Friedenberg served as senior VP, CMP Strategic Customer Development responsible for sales and marketing strategies to increase revenue from the company's top 50 customers worldwide.
In '05, '06, '07, and '08 Friedenberg was named to BtoB magazine's listing of "Who's Who" in business media.
Friedenberg began his publishing career in sales at Cardinal Business Media. He graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in business administration.”
