After 29 years with Tacony Corporation, working with independent small business owners, it's time to share my knowledge and experience with a larger community. I've formed the Buckley Group as a vehicle to work with small businesses and non-profits, helping them to build their personal brands and use Web 2.0 tools to tell their stories and to connect with their customers.
I'm a firm believer in the value of small businesses to the US economy. I also believe that Web 2.0 is the ultimate tool to level the playing field for organizations of all sizes. Blogs, podcasts, wikis, and other social media tools allow the small enterprise to reach their target audience at very little cost.
Personal investments and a generous retirement program have provided me with a decent income meaning that I can offer affordable counseling to smaller businesses and non-profits. As an ordained minister of the Roman Catholic Church, I feel that this is an important part of my calling.
In addition to authoring the Tacony corporate blog, I also host the "Mining the Store" blog and podcast. (http://www.miningthestore.com)
At Tacony Corporation, in addition to working with sales and marketing to turn raw data into usable information, I have also worked with our sewing division on the development of new products. I have represented Tacony Corporation as a member of the Board of Examiners for the Missouri Quality Award. I founded, designed and write the Tacony Corporation blog, Mine Your Own Business. (http://www.tacony.com/myob). I authored the original Tacony Corporation TQM handbook, "Quality Tacony." I introduced the concept of standardized project management to the company and presented it company-wide. I also provided training in the company's data mining software to Corporate Centre associates.
I recently had the privilege of speaking at Podcamp Ireland in Kilkenny.
I'm happily married with four grown children and two grandchildren.
