The Family Independence Initiative is a national center for innovating new strength based approaches for economic and social mobility that put people in the driver’s seat of their own change. Over this last decade FII has demonstrated that investing in people’s strengths and initiative delivers more powerful, sustainable, and cost effective outcomes for low-income families. Our strength-based approach, as radical and as old as our democracy, is inspired by the historical successes of poor communities in the U.S.

Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer @ ForteFive LLC / Forte5 Consulting. Responsible for incubating and bootstrapping a number of ideas with a team of people I have worked with for 6+ years in various domains (Perkvine was the first project we incubated). Currently serving as CTO at Weedist and working on a number of stealth projects in the "green rush" space that we are bringing to market as cannabis legalization continues to spread across the US and the globe.

Design and develop all technology related to the Weedist website (www.weedist.com). Built an iOS Mobile App for Weedist using Objective C on the client side and custom WordPress plugins on the server side to provide Weedist content in a clean, Facebook Paper-like format for our viewers (currently stuck in the app review cycle with Apple given the nature of the content and the inconsistent application of their app review policies). Part-time editor and occasional writer that works with an amazing staff of dozens of writers around the US. Non-smoker who believes in global access to an incredible natural medicine and who is staunchly against any form of prohibition because of the consequences associated with trying to prohibit something people want (including the creation of a violent black market and a prison nation here in the US).

Perkvine is a rewards network that was established to give restaurants, caterers and other merchants access to new, high-margin consumers and reward those consumers for their patronage. Simplistically, you can think of Perkvine as a "frequent flyer program" for people who dine out or cater in frequently for work.
Perkvine was conceived to combat the negative experiences merchants were having with the existing crop of Review, Rewards, and Deal-of-the-Day websites. After months of research, we discovered that the highest-margin patrons were not being properly targeted, so we created Perkvine to fill this need. Merchants can now realize both an increase in revenue and, for once, an equal or larger increase in profit margins. In short, Merchants get to Pay-For-Performance by investing in a rewards program that brings high-margin patronage into their establishments at the right price and without crippling their cash flow. The real value of the Perkvine model is our focus on professionals who dine out or cater in as part of their business. These professionals are highly networked, share with their peers, and are highly competitive. The Perkvine Rewards Program targets all of these behaviors and puts them to work for Perkvine Merchants.

earthfaves has been in business since 2007, was conceived and bootstrapped by a group of ex-SAP talent that has been quietly building an incredible new platform that adds a useful layer to the social networks that are currently exploding around the globe.
earthfaves is a platform that allows businesses to effectively build a community of promoters. earthfaves plugs into existing social networks and allows people to recommend their favorite places (restaurants, hotels, taverns, parks, virtually anything) to their network of friends. earthfaves allows people to perform "social searches" and find things to do, places to go, and amazing adventures that their network of trusted friends have favored. This social search delivers banded results that show earthfaves of a person's friends, friends-of-friends, subject matter experts, and then general Google search results. Instead of getting millions of results that were ranked by a third-party, users of earthfaves get trusted search results that leverage the collective intelligence and similar tastes of the people in their social networks.
