Experienced Technical Project Manager, Programmer & Web Developer
Ireland
Technical Project Manager and Web Developer, I have a passion for coding and problem solving and enjoy everything I do in my daily job.
After working as a web developer for a number of successful firms, I eventually founded Hiddenloop Ltd. (2006) - allowing me to work with a wide range of clients on small and large scale projects. With Hiddenloop, I aim to provide quality, accessible websites and web applications, that are both easy to use and maintain. While I am not qualified designer, I take pride in building aesthetically pleasing sites to the best of my ability, and using minimal code and markup.
As a technical project manager - I have proven experience in overseeing the technical aspect of small and large scale projects (usually teams of 5 developers or less), from conception through to final delivery and on-going maintenance. I apply agile methods and adopt the principles of 'Getting Real' (37 Signals) - promoting simple, un-bloated software and processes.
As a developer I am always looking for new challenges, diving into unfamiliar code to solve problems or building applications from the ground up in a new language.
"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work" - Steve Jobs

As lead developer, I am involved in driving the technical aspects of the project forward, responding to clients needs and developing out the core product. I work in a small team of experienced and dedicated developers as back-end programmer and web designer. Ticketsolve currently caters to box-offices in both small and large scale venues, festivals etc. in the UK and Ireland
I apply agile principles, which are part of Exoftware's core business. Exoftware is a leader of the XP community in Europe and active members of the Agile Alliance. (http://www.exoftware.com/about)

After starting Hiddenloop in January 2006, I have worked on a wide range of projects - from portfolio sites, intranet applications (with BT), online communities and ecommerce sites. Through Hiddenloop I also work full-time as a contracting Technical Project Manager with the BBC (see below)
Working for myself I have been able to establish new contacts, turn a healthy profit and evolve a steady stream of on-going work. I have also had the freedom to choose web technologies and tools that I believe, best suit the customers needs. I take pride in the work I do and enjoy the challenge each new project brings.

BBC JAM is an on-line SCORM Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), offering 50% of the UK curriculum for 5-16yrs
I provide technical guidance to external and internal development teams working on JAM commissions (a subject & age range)
I have encouraged teams to take an agile approach to software development and (at many times) stepped in as a developer to debug and fix critical issues
Working on (up to) 7 (multi-language) commissions at once, from conception through to final acceptance; I act as senior technical advisor on the BBC Jam platform, the content developers kit, 3rd party VLE's and the BBC JAM Packed player.
The project offers some unique challenges in localising content into four languages (Welsh, Irish, English and Scots Gaelic), meeting BBC accessibility requirements in Flash and working with the BBC JAM VLE platform (and SCORM)

Noumenaut is a US based company in the process of developing ‘Skribe’ - a professional publishing and social website. Originally an open source project, a small/select group of developers now work together in their spare time to bring this project to life.
I am lead developer/designer, involved in building the project (and the associated support/company sites) using a combination of AJAX, Flash and Ruby on Rails. Skribe allows me to experiment with new technologies and different approaches to developing/hosting and scaling web applications.
The project is ongoing and is due to launch later this year. For more information;

As a software test engineer I worked on the AXE10 Mobile Exchange with Ericsson Mobile. This involved designing test case scripts for PLEX C code blocks on the exchange - executed on the APZ emulator tool.
I also designed, built and maintained the SSF-AM intranet team website site. My role extended to software quality liaison for the team, working to Aepona's own and & Ericsson's strict coding standards. At Aepona it was nessecary to work to tight time scales, comply with Ericsson's documenting process.
