Matthew Eernisse’s Summary

Author of the SitePoint book 'Build Your Own Ajax Web Applications.' I have a lot of experience designing and building dynamic Web applications and UIs using Ajax technologies like JavaScript/DOM/CSS with Ruby, PHP, and ASP. I have worked with databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MSSQL quite a bit, including procedures/functions in TSQL and PL/PgSQL. I have a fair bit of knowledge of usability and design, and contributed to the book 'Universal Principles of Design' (Rockport Publishers) as a consulting technical editor.

Technical goals: I want to use Ajax-style development to push the envelope of what's possible in the browser, to give end-users the best experience possible. Web applications are revolutionizing people's access to information, and it's our challenge as designers and developers to create well designed, dynamic Web UIs that allow effortless interaction with these apps.

Personal goals: To work in a stimulating, challenging environment -- preferably with people smarter than me. To make a measurable, positive difference in the world by making things easier for people trying to get their work done on the Web. To give other people an opportunity to learn if I know something worth learning.

Miscellaneous: I run a Webcast radio station at www.epiphanyradio.org that plays all-indie downtempo electronica groove. I play the drums and speak fluent Japanese.
