Donald Winston's Summary
I attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, graduating second in my class in 1975. I began my surgical residency at Baylor College of Medicine in January, 1976 thru June, 1977 when I was appointed as the Cardiovascular Surgical Research Fellow at the Clayton Cardiovascular Surgical Research Laboratory at Texas Heart Institute working on partial artificial hearts and abdominal left ventricular assist devices and mechanical circulatory support systems. I completed my general surgery residency training as chief resident in general surgery at St. Josephs Hospital in Houston, Texas, in July, 1981.
While a general surgery resident at St. Joseph Hospital, I worked at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital in Houston, Texas and completed my chief resident year at Brackenridge Hospital, a Level I trauma center and Travis County health care facility in Austin, Texas.
After completion of my general surgery residency, I opened the Galleria Clinic, the first medical outpatient facility located in an enclosed shopping mall in the country. I wrote all of the software to run the Galleria Clinic and designed the computer network.
After 5 years, I sold the Galleria Clinic, and sold the software to Christus Healthcare. I then began a private consulting practice for attorneys MedicalDepartment, inc. I have maintained a small clinical practice since then, but devoted the majority of my time to consulting on product liability lawsuits.
For many years I have reviewed medical cases, hired physician experts and planned trial strategies. I have references available from many of my clients. My clinical skills are up-to-date as is my knowledge of medicine and surgery.
