In addition to managing a portfolio of grantees for The Pew Charitable Trusts and developing new projects, Marci McCoy-Roth directs policy research and communications for Pew’s Kids Are Waiting campaign and assists in the overall design and management of Pew’s foster care initiative. Kids Are Waiting (www.kidsarewaiting.org) is a national campaign dedicated to ensuring that all children in foster care have the safe, permanent families they deserve by reforming the federal financing structure that governs our foster care system. Marci has directed the production of eight reports and briefs for the campaign, developed online and written materials for policy outreach and advocacy, and overseen the work of ten grantees.
Prior to joining Pew in 2005, Marci worked in state and national disability policy reform efforts. For the state of Wisconsin, Marci managed an external evaluation of the state’s long-term care program and developed and oversaw a state-sponsored evaluation of a new Medicaid disability employment program. As a research and policy analyst for the National Consortium for Health Systems Development, Marci provided strategic planning expertise and technical assistance in utilizing research to improve systems. She has written and presented on various topics pertaining to health and social communications; articles include “How journalists see the Blogosphere.”
Marci has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Yale University and two master’s degrees—one in policy analysis and public affairs from the University of Wisconsin, another in political communications from the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Pennsylvania.
