ESRC Doctorate Student The University of York
United Kingdom
Currently I am writing up my Doctorate research at The University of York that is funded by the Economic Social Research Council (ESRC). The focus is on how new social media provide a new 'pivototality' for social interaction that is based on user engagement and social immersion. Facebook is just one of my case studies.
As a long-time student of the social theory, politics and literature I am both a keen observer and participant of social networks and new technology. My research represents one of the leading studies about the impact of social networks and Web 2.0. Working at both an academic and professional level my work has already provided a conceptual guide to understand the consequences of new social media that motivate social action and facilitate communication. I have offered a critical evaluation about these resources to various Web 2.0 Start-ups including WhatTalent.com and Moonri.se.com, the corporate and education sector as well as Government based agenda.
