K2 Participações is the investment arm of K2 Achievements and currently holds positions in the corporate services -- Direkt Marketing, a joint-venture with RBS Group (Brazil's third largest media group) -- and health services industries, through CMI -- Centros Médicos Integrados.
Past investments in K2's portfolio included positions in telecommunications and retail businesses.
One of K2's most visible projects was Atrium Telecom, a partnership with four major Brazilian real estate investors. At Atrium K2 was responsible for designing the venture; starting it up, in 2000; hiring its management, including the CEO; and attracting, as financial investors, GE Capital, Advent Intl. and JP Morgan. In 2004 100% of Atrium Telecom was sold to Telefonica, for around US$ 120M, yielding a return, for the financial investors, of more than 200% (+30% p.a.).
Up until the sale to Telefonica, K2 held a voting position and a minority stake at Atrium. -
