VirTel works closely with billing and customer service partners that charge on a 'pay-as-you-go' basis making it easy and economic for brands to launch their services.

In December 2004 the company purchased the customer base of Vodafone ASP Mobile Innovations to form VirTel group and its associated MVNO, Reward Mobile.

In June 2005 VirTel Group was acquired by Sonnet Corporation (ASX: SNN)
