For over two decades Maura Hennessey has been involved with International Law, Economics and Finance as well as Lesbian and Women's Rights issues. Her career has taken her from the sunny beaches of Gran Canaria, to war torn Bosnia and the stately halls of The Hague and now to New York, Gibraltar and Vienna.
What might have been a slow climb from office to office amidst dusty ledgers instead turned into an adventure, tempered by the heavy responsibility of searching for truth during governmental investigations and by the horrors and banality of evil revealed in uncovering the financing of a genocide.
Her passion for her work, dependability and sense of moral responsibility over mere legality has gained the respect of her colleagues on three continents
In addition to her LL.B and Ph.D from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Maura holds an LL.M for UK law from the University of London-Queen Mary and an LL.M for US law from Duke. She also holds the distinction of Queen's Counsel.
Maura is married to her partner Thérèse and has three children, three stepchildren and a step grand-daughter. She enjoys horseback riding, walking, eclectic sorts of music and theatre. She belongs to the New York Lesbian Professional Women's Group "Heterodoxy" and supports various human rights and civil rights causes.
