Senior Director of Social Media Strategy at M80
Greater Los Angeles Area
I’m the Senior Director of Social Media Strategy for M80, the leading provider of social media marketing and digital publicity services to Fortune 500 brands. I design, deploy and monitor social media programs for companies that want to generate word of mouth buzz, listen to their fans (and sometimes detractors) and support their community through online customer service channels. In other words, I spend a lot of time crafting strategy, then hanging out in Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Blog and Forums all day.
My business path is quite eclectic. I started my first company right out of college, a cigar wholesale distributor, and quite by accident I controlled the market share on the West Coast within 18 months. After a good run I sold that company and started a small tech firm that specialized in multi-location team collaboration. We helped companies communicate better, both internally and with their audience. After an equally exciting time as the cigar company, I sold that and went to work as an Executive Director in the non-profit sector, first in Portland, Oregon and then ultimately in Los Angeles.
I have seen every side of business, from the start to the finish, and I understand how things work. What I do now is simple…I make small things big. When a company knows that they need to be in the conversation that is happening online but they don’t know how to do it or what that even means, my team and I step in. We help them to understand and use the new tools that are available online, and not only get them into the conversation, but teach them how to leverage and guide it. I love what I do.
