Matt Platts’s Summary

Project Manager and Programmer in a number of web technologies with over 10 years experience. I have built large applications single handedly and worked on larger applications as part of a team in a number of areas from web development, multimedia transcoding for mobile media and design of full ERP systems.

My Speciality areas are programming in Perl, PHP, Javascript and (X)HTML, coupled with extensive experience of Microsoft Access, MySQL, Flash and moderate actionscript. I also excel at project planning and management and database design.

Always thorough and forward thinking I began building a framework (affectionately known as IsoTope) in Perl in 1999, that has recently been ported to PHP and has been in use on a number of web sites for many years. It allows me to create vastly complicated web sites in a matter of days or hours rather than weeks.

I began in design in the late '90s and am highly experienced with Photoshop, InDesign and also know CorelDraw inside out.

  Utilising a number of internet technologies, I am currently the senior programmer for DML Marketing LTD, an excellent company with a proven track record in creative marketing solutions.
  
  Drawring on over ten years of experience in internet programming, mainly in Perl and PHP, I work largely using a PHP framework that I have been developing for many years that is automating many of the repetitive tasks that web developers face. Complex dynamic web sites are put together in this framework that wires dynamic pages consisting of both data views and input screens to databases - and much more - in far less code than even languages like Ruby. This is far more than a content management system and more of a framework in that it can create content management systems, more flexible than any I have ever seen.

  Creation of complete ERP system for Delerium Records, used by the business for taking orders from the internet, managing those orders, ordering from suppliers, vat/tax returns, calculating artist royalties etc. The front end to the world was a self written Perl e-commerce site based around a Microsoft Access database. Staff front ends were a Microsoft Access database running in Access itself. Ten years of development went into this vast system. I was at the forefront of this as programmer, designer and creative thinker.

  Senior Programmer working on a number of corporate web sites utilising mainly Perl but also some PHP. Notably I wrote an on-site mail application (similar to the mail applications commonly seen on web sites these days) before Id ever seen anyone else do one. I co-wrote a large content management system for Japan Airlines amongst many other notably large clients. I later contracted for this company on a few jobs.
