Dramatically boosted the ratings of the station's weekend evening newscasts. Managed the weekend news crew. Exposed an FBI agent telling an untruth in court. Showed why whale hunting is important to the lifestyle and health of Alaska Natives.

When I left the station, I was anchoring and producing the weekend morning news. I also had extensive reporting experience from going out on the campaign trail covering gubernatorial and U.S. Senate races as well as the 2004 Democratic presidential primary. I was also the station's lead reporter on the Carolina Investors scandal, for which I won a regional Edward R. Murrow award. My coverage of a deadly hotel arson in Greenville, SC, was nominated for an Emmy.

While in high school, I got extensive experience at WMIX AM/FM anchoring the afternoon news, reporting on city council and school board meetings as well as breaking news, and served as a disc jockey on Sunday afternoons.

This fellowship included an intense two weeks in Berlin and Brussels, among other stops. Through a joint arrangement between RTNDF and RIAS, my colleagues and I got invaluable behind-the-scenes meetings with leaders in German media, the Bundestag (parliament), and European Commission.

At the same time, I interned at CNN's Washington Bureau serving as a researcher to economics/political correspondent Brooks Jackson, who is now the director of FactCheck.org.
In the preceding months, I had interned on Capitol Hill with the Dispatch Broadcast Group, serving as a field producer for WBNS-TV (Columbus, OH), the Ohio News Network, and WTHR-TV (Indianapolis).
