As an Emerging Technologies Librarian I am interested in areas such as interface design and the development of “next generation” discovery tools. I am particularly intrigued by the field of Human-Computer Interaction and the changes now coming about which are paving the way for “Calm Technology”. Some of my most recent work has focused on how mobile computing is changing information use and its impact on library services.
I also think that Open Source development offers us an opportunity to look anew at our library systems and ask ourselves if we can develop something more useful to the way we work today-- and the way we might work tomorrow.
