Matthew Barnier’s Summary

I have been in IT for now 20+ years and have experience from a range of areas including pure Engineering to Management and to today as CEO with a very hands on style. I began Planwell Technology in 1991 leaving a role as an IT Manager in an end user organisation comming through CADCAM, programming and sysadmin which I was at for 10 years. In Planwell's in the early 90's I built a System Integration business providing full service to SME customers from hardware supply and commission to software development where I developed my sales skills.

I have managed building Planwell to 150 staff with turnovers of $25m operating over eight offices in three countries across Asia Pacific from nothing with no capital injection or debt. Along the way I participated in a public listing (IPO) with a consortium of companies gaining first hand experience and then operated in a public framework before performing an MBO after the partnering companies suffered in the technology downturn of 2001. Planwell then went on to perform several business acquisitions giving me experience in negotiating and executing M&A.

Today now specialising in leading ITSM & ITIL or collectivly BSM and servicing some of the largest companies in ANZ for end to end service. I was also instrumental in incubating the Remedy product suites in Australia in the early ITSM markets or the mid 90's and have maintained and grown that position through Planwell as a Channel for the suites which have changed hands to now be with BMC Software. Today being one of BMC's most respected global partners and holding multiyear unchallenged awards for Asia Pacific leadership.

Today perhaps my experience can be summarised as managing a high growth IT Software VAR Channel organisation working with large enterprise customers .
