I have 10+ years experience programming; mostly in Perl, Java, SQL, and recently Groovy. I helped build a small ISP from 1000 dialup customers to over 3000 dialup, 1000+ high speed DSL and wireless customers over 5 years. I transitioned from network / system administration to Quality Assurance for 2 local Albuquerque software firms and then moved from QA to full-time programming as a consultant and now as a full-time programmer / team lead.
I hope to keep growing as a programmer, learning new languages and techniques, as well as studying the computer science building blocks of skills. I am also developing my leadership skills as a team leader in an agile work environment.
Java, Scrum / Agile methodology, SQL, Groovy, Perl, HTML, Javascript

February 2007 — Present (2 years 6 months)
My main project has been a nearly 2 year effort to implement a new billing system
• Worked with executives from various departments to write the initial specifications of legacy billing behavior and desired behavior for the new system
• Designed and developed Java programs for over a dozen points of integration with other systems using JDBC, SOAP web services and JMS
• Configured application using over 5000 lines of code in vendor's custom Ruby-like language and in configuration tool
• Advocated for Scrum development processes such as continuous integration, letting programmers specify task estimates, working with Scrum Master and Product Owner to ensure everyone’s needs were being met
I'm proud that over time my role on the team evolved into not only a developer but into a team lead
• Worked to eliminate impediments and improve team efficiency
• Acted as pragmatic sounding board for other programmers’ design ideas
During this time I was also the maintainer of the claim processing application used by entire company (120+ people)
