As a member of the SVP's staff, I oversaw the user experience teams for the communication and community products including Mail, Messenger, Voice, Profiles, Groups, Bix, and Flickr.
(Public Company; YHOO; Internet industry)
November 2003 — February 2009 (5 years 4 months)
As part of the senior leadership team, I led the group responsible for the user experience of Yahoo!'s IM, real-time communication and VoIP products across multiple OS's and the Web. While maintaining considerable critical and user acclaim I led the effort to explore monetization in new ways that greatly benefit the business while not compromising the user experience. It is a source of pride that during my tenure we were able to grow our user base at a greater pace than our competition eventually becoming the most used IM product in the U.S.
(Privately Held; 11-50 employees; Internet industry)
February 2006 — November 2006 (10 months)
(Public Company; 10,001 or more employees; YHOO; Internet industry)
March 2001 — November 2003 (2 years 9 months)
I was hired as the sole interaction designer for the Yahoo! Enterprise services business group responsible for the design of our portal software offering. As we expanded our offering to include a customizable toolbar, a secure instant messaging client, and many more never released (but pretty amazing) products I hired and led a four-person interdisciplinary user experience team.
(Internet industry)
March 2000 — February 2001 (1 year )
I joined an exciting start-up called Liveprint.com that provided customized business cards and stationery through an intuitive and simple online wizard. Shortly after joining, Kinkos invested in the company and we changed our name to kinkos.com and became the web-presence for their network of stores. The products that I designed include a graphic upload tool that increased the resolution on logos from screen to press-ready and Print2Kinkos, a web-based application that allowed users to upload multiple documents for printing and binding and then either retrieve them from their local Kinkos or deliver them anywhere. Ultimately the company was disbanded when Kinkos, Inc. purchased the remaining interest and relocated the online effort to their company headquarters.
(Non-Profit; 1-10 employees; Non-Profit Organization Management industry)
February 1998 — February 2000 (2 years 1 month)
At the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP), a global non-profit membership organization, I managed the design, content and development of their website and all member email communication. Additionally, I designed original logos, marketing materials, advertisements and interactive presentations for use on the Internet, in email and in print publications.
