Although I still write for publication on occasion, this six-year period between 1999 and 2005 was the most intensive period of my freelance writing career.
More than three-quarters of my work was for the Chicago Tribune, covering local government for the most part, as well as a wide range of news, features and business news, totaling more than 800 stories.
From January 2000 to January 2004, I also freelanced for Time magazine's Chicago bureau, working on more than 80 assignments in that span. Other publications where my work appeared: USA Today, Sports Illustrated, Sports Illustrated For Kids, Chicago Parent, as well as many others.
