Jim Mathis’s Summary

I am a photographer, writer, and musician. I own a commercial portrait studio located in Corporate Woods, Overland Park, Kansas. The studio specializes in business, commercial, and theatrical portraits.

We also copy and restore vintage photographs, do architectural photography, and panoramic photos.

In 1973 I started Mathis Photo, Inc, a custom black and white photo lab in Kansas City. Over the next 23 years Mathis Photo became the premier black and white lab in the Midwest. Mathis Photo did photo restorations, film processing and printing, product photography and business and entertainer photos. Mathis Photo was sold in 1996 and continues under new management with a new name.

In 1996 I joined the staff of the Christain Business Men's Committee USA as Metro Director for Western Missouri and Eastern Kansas. CBMC is not-for-profit ministry to business and professional people. I resigned that role in 2008.

In 2001 I founded Homer's Coffee House in downtown Overland Park, Kansas. There I managed a staff of fifteen people. Homer's became a highly respected live music venue and the premier venue for live Chistian music in Kansas City. Under my direction, Homer's became known as "Kansas City's Home of Christian Blues." Homer's continues to operate under new management.

In 2008, I started Mathis Photography in Corporate Woods in Overland Park. In addition to commercial photography, Mathis Photography is working to develop commercial applications for high quality short-run photobooks.

I am also co-founder and leader of the musical group "Sky Blue." www.SkyBlueBand.net

I am a published author, writer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist.
