Fotolog is the world's 14th most trafficked site (Alexa) and 3rd most active social network (ComScore) serving billions of page views per month. At Fotolog, I am primarily responsible for all aspects of database administration and data architecture including disaster recovery, performance tuning, database scalability, data mining and schema optimizations.
When I joined Fotolog, it's database architecture needed careful attention to help it take advantage of explosive traffic growth. At that time we had around five million members. Today, 10.5 million members later, we still have the same number of database servers as existed when I joined. We will however, be adding new servers very soon to prepare for even more growth.
Fotolog has given me tremendous professional opportunities and challenges that have helped me scale Fotolog's database architecture.

NGCSU is known as the Military college of Georgia and serves more than 3500 students. I was given the challenging task of coming up with a usability focused design for the home page of the university that would highlight the university's historic culture, focus on the importance of leadership and its core military values while satisfying the information needs of all stakeholders.
My first draft received so many positive reviews that it was approved overwhelmingly and went on to be the face of NGCSU on the web for several years.
