Mary Walker’s Summary

I work for two different types of clients:

1) young technology companies that sell SaaS / internet / Web 2.0 products and services. I drive business improvements by diagnosing and fixing problems and by building out organizational capacity for growth.

2) large companies that have technology projects related to Web 2.0 / Enterprise 2.0 (web applications, social network applications, community applications).

In some cases, I participate in in an adviser/coach capacity. In other cases, I take an active role in project management and implementation.

Examples of the types of business challenges I get involved in:

* How can we better understand, attract, engage, retain, leverage our prospects/customers? (i.e. marketing / selling / customer care issues)
* A key function, business process or project is struggling -- how can we get its performance on track? (i.e. process improvements, project management)
* How can we use Web 2.0 / social media tools -- either externally with customers or internally with employees?
* Our current organization doesn't fit our needs – how should we restructure?

I have experience across:

* large and small organizations (Fortune 500 to start-up)
* line and staff roles
* internal and external roles (in-house vs consultant).

Many of my roles require connecting strategy to workday reality.

I like high-learning situations. My work style is low-key and collaborative.

I'm interested in social media and digital culture and have been engaged in online communities and user-generated-content for ~10+ years. I'm interested in Enterprise 2.0 -- how businesses can effectively move their products and relationships into the Web 2.0 world.

I'm active in professional communities that use applied anthropology in market research, consumer behavior, product design and organizational behavior.
