My publishing credits include over 1000 nonfiction articles, poems, or children's stories and 25 books of fiction and nonfiction published by such traditional houses as Broadman, Zondervan, Guidepost, Concordia, Facts On File, and soon, Chelsea House. Genres range from inspirational romance novels and a 7-book series of devotionals to a children's picture book and a couple of life-health encyclopedias for adults. I'm currently working on a book of poetry and under contract to write a health resource book for high school libraries.
Besides writing in all genres for all age groups, I judge poetry and manuscripts for children entered in the annual writing competitions sponsored by www.writers-editors.com. I've also worked with other poets and writers since 1983, first through home study courses and workshops then my critique service and ecumenical website, www.catholicpoetsandwriters.com. I Tweet tips about the Christian writing life on http://twitter.com/catholicpoets/ and about writing in general on http://twitter.com/MaryHSayler/.

July 1972 — Present (37 years 5 months)
Placed poems, nonfiction manuscripts, and children's stories in take-home papers and Christian parenting magazines. Wrote Bible stories, contemporary children's stories, church curriculum, a series of devotional books, children's novels, inspirational romances, and a children's picture book for a variety of denominational and interdenominal presses. Also wrote a poetry home study course (reportedly, the first correspondence program in poetry) that eventually became the book Poetry: Taking Its Course. Researched and wrote patient handout sheets on various medical tests or conditions and two life-health encyclopedias (muscle/ bone and back/ spine) for Facts On File.
