Department Head position supervising the property tax assessment function for more than 100,000 taxable parcels in St Louis County, Minnesota. I administered a budget of $2 million with 30 county staff in three offices, and supervised 20 local assessors employed by different local jurisdictions. I retired from this position in 2004 and traveled around the world for one year.
As a Principal Appraiser, prior to my appointment as County Assessor, my responsibility was to develop, implement, and supervise new computerized assessment systems, maintain and coordinate existing assessment systems and data processing needs, and develop and implement special projects, including the annual department budget, GIS parcel information, spreadsheets for local assessors, sales analysis, valuation schedules, and appraisal statistics.
