My career path has taken me from Highlet to Highlet. But I did once change floors.
I’m now IT director of the company. I’m hoping to remain so, and in particular hoping not to take up any new challenges. I’ve got quite enough to do in my department.
I’m no follower of fashion as far as IT goes, I’d much rather stay faithful to my own equipment. I installed my database and central unit in 1982.
Since then, I haven’t touched a thing. Because as my boss, Robert K. Smith so rightly says, “Progress always risks running into a brick wall.”
I’m crazy about 8 bit processors and BASIC programming, and I rounded off my training with a course in Fortran programming in December 1982.
(PS: While I'm on this page, any offers for the September 1982 issue of Personal Computer magazine? I’ve got two.)
