Mr. Gandar was a joint founder of the UK subsidiary of the Dutch Software company named TopSystems UK and later developed through acquisition by Unisys into USoft.

Initially carrying out consultancy work as project manager for a publishing client, he combined a sales and pre-sales management role with marketing.
During this period Mr. Gandar also established joint marketing arrangements with both Sybase and Oracle in the UK.
As an external activity he also became Chairman of the UK Oracle User Group, turning it into a self sufficient profitable organization with over 1000 member companies, It went from costing Oracle $50,000 per year into an organisaton that made $ 30,000 profit through the implementation of good commercial practices.
His success with the UKOUG developed into a role as Deputy Secretary General of the EOUG where he was responsible for a management and financial re-structuring of the European User Group.

Joining initially as Development Manager Mr. Gandar was responsible for recruiting and managing a team of 30 development staff to re-design and build the Risk Management, Claims and Re-insurance systems of this major Lloyd's Underwriters. The systems were developed using state of the art client / server PC to IBM mainframe, Oracle Forms applications, the first of its kind in the City of London. The system has a mirrored backup mainframe providing high levels of recovery. Once development was well under-way Mr. Gandar was requested to take over the whole of the IT Group which included over 100 staff and the ICL legacy applications. He was responsible for an annual budget of some $3 Million
During this period Mr. Gandar became involved with Oracle and the emerging technology of the Dutch company which he had encountered at a European conference, and resolved to establish a distributorship.

Mr. Gandar joined Ernst & Young to gain Management Consultancy experience. He was responsible initially for Computer Package Selection for major clients.
Mr. Gandar was Project Manager for the analysis, design and development of a Physical Resource Management System which was one five major modules implemented by Ernst and Young for the Department of Trade and Industry ( DTI ) in the UK.
Mr. Gandar become responsible for the introduction of the Information Engineering Workbench ( IEW ) tools into the UK. This advanced analysis and design environment was the first to use information engineering principles, and Mr. Gandar introduced it into the consultancy organization of Ernst and Young in Europe. He latterly became responsible for the analysis and strategic design of a Lloyd's client and left to become their IT Development Manager.

Programmer to Project Manager.
Mr. Gandar joined from college in a programming role and became responsible for the development of a submarine tracking system for the Royal Navy called STEWS II. The software was programmed in HEX and assembler on INTEL 8080 microprocessors and used advanced mathematics such as Kalman Filtering. It was rigorously tested and highly efficient.
The next major projects involved modeling refinery processes for BP and developing optimized refinery models that could determine the best possible value of crude oil after various optional processes.
Mr. Gandar was the lead analyst on a major Medical System for Radiation Monitoring at the BNFL Windscale and Calder Works, combining Urinalysis, Whole Body Monitoring, Fecal and Personal Badge monitors. This system developed in PL/1 on IBM 4300 machines took two years to implement.
