Hyper-connected Recruiting Manager at ZoomInfo (burns@zoominfo.com)
Greater Boston Area
Adaptable, creative, focused recruiter. I tend to stay on the bleeding edge of best practices and technologies that impact recruiting, but I'm old school enough to pound the phone (you know - it's that thing on your desk with all the buttons & numbers that occasionally beeps at you). I'm metrics driven, as well as intuitive in my approaches. Fairly well right-left brain balanced.
Currently, I'm focused on finding top talent for ZoomInfo, a fast growing, highly disruptive business information company outside of Boston.
When I'm bored - which I loathe - I put on a couple of different hats:
-Maintain our @ZoomInfo Twitter alias as well as my semi-pro @recruitermoe alias
-Blog at recruiter.wordpress.com (recruiting trends, and advice for job seekers)
-Created and maintain our onboarding strategy
-Write chunks of the copy for our About site
-Oversee recruitment product marketing (newsletter, setting up webinars on recruiting products, conference strategy, thought leadership, customer advisory board, etc)
-Expansion design and implementation (designed 50% physical growth in our headquarters, negotiated with vendors, oversaw contractors, selected and negotiated pricing on furniture, actively - i.e., swung a hammer, turned a screwdriver - involved with physical construction and employee move)
Outside of ZoomInfo, I'm involved with the recruiting community. I contribute to a variety of recruiting oriented thought leadership groups, provide beta testing and product feedback to new recruiting technology companies, attend national trade shows, and speak at industry events.
Social media search & optimization, name sourcing, relationship building, employment branding, cheeky recruitment ads, career-site design, SEO/ SEM. Industries I know well are: internet search, finance, actuarial, education, publishing, bio & pharma. Bit of a grab bag. I've worked both sides of the agency desk, as well corporate recruiting, and had a stints as an entrepreneur & in publishing. It's all been interesting.

July 2006 — Present (3 years 1 month)
Created and manage entire recruiting function, and work closely with the executive team in building recruiting strategies that directly impact the success of the company. I have an agency, sales, and marketing background so my approach tends to be fairly proactive.
I have gotten our hiring to a cost-per-hire of just north of $1,000, while keeping our focus on hiring A players. Have also had the opportunity to plan, project manage, and finalize a 50% expansion of our physical space (I was arguing with contractors about estimates and sticking my head into ventilation shafts in between interviewing and sourcing). Also working closely with our marketing team as an extra writer, and have heavy involvement in marketing our Recruiting products.
Having a blast, and hiring a lot of great talent.
What I'm always looking for are candidates who are interested in performing with a combination of excellence and humor. Care to join us?

June 2005 — July 2006 (1 year 2 months)
Boutique, regional accounting and finance recruiting agency. Placed candidates (and in most cases created & managed relationships) with: Boston Scientific, CombinatoRx, OpenPages, among others. Worked vertically: placed VP's of Finance, Controllers, Accountants, Financial Analysts.

October 2002 — June 2005 (2 years 9 months)
Took over a bleeding, tri-county outside sales territory (company focused on curriculum tools and trainging, centered on student planning tools and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens). Immediately stopped bleeding, and by end of first year had territory in growth. Grew territory year-over-year, met and exceeding quota annually.

August 1997 — October 2002 (5 years 3 months)
National contingency recruiting agency. Boston division focused on actuarial and employee benefits positions. Ran both sides of my desk, earning annual awards, ranging from "President's Club", "Super Star", "Super-Duper Star", etc. Billed six-figures annually, while working full commission (old-school style, with no draw). Worked with & developed clients and candidates. Representative clients (developed by me, where the firm made multiple placements) included: Pharmacia, CitiStreet, mPower.com (now part of Morningside), and Financial Engines.

My family. When I'm not nose-deep at work, I'm cooking, or reading (right now, tons of: literature, poetry, historical fiction - particular interest in Mediterranean basin, BCE period, philosophy, sci-fi, and well-written business texts. Also, sucker for a good satire). In general, my interest ranges all over, from poetry to plays to sci-fi to Moby Dick (I keep rereading that for some odd reason...), playing on the floor with my 2 kids, driving aimlessly around (one of life's great pleasures - and powered by dinosaur juice, no less!), etc al. When I'm online, I'm trying to find you. To hire you. Or, just because I think you're fascinating. When it works, it's both...
