My professional history has blended my passion for writing with technical and business savvy since the very beginning. I spent several years as a programmer and Web developer, and branched out into technical writing in order to apply my skills at developing easily accessible copy in a professional capacity.
I have developed a career in freelance journalism as well, specializing in consumer privacy, technology, Internet security, and defense against identity theft. My work in these fields has won recognition for my ability to take complex and confusing topics and break them down to simple, understandable points that any reader can relate to and learn from.
My natural ability to distill topics down to the basics, combined with my skill at realizing clients' needs, has also developed into a thriving career in marketing and advertising. I've created marketing copy of all kinds, from Web page text, to high-profile print ads, to telephone sales scripts, to radio ads.
As a longtime blogger and Web writer, I have taught professionals in many fields about using blogs, social networks, and Web content to develop audiences, share information, build new client contacts, and expand their business reach far beyond what they could have imagined.
Technical writing and editing, marketing, advertising, business plans (Including requirements analyses, business case development, and implementation plans), consumer security, privacy and Internet safety, finance and investment counseling, real estate, online journalism, and Web content development.

Our coverage of Hurricane Katrina's effects on the economy and American consumers was selected for archiving by the Library of Congress in October of 2005. The site averages two million unique visitors per month.
