Mark's aim is to be involved significantly in technology and enterprise software development projects in the financial domain. He is now starting to think about moving into Project Management, and is interested in studying further, most likely, in doing an MBA specialising in Finance.
Over the last few 4 years, Mark has developed a strong finance / technology expertise working for National Australia Bank (NAB), UBS and most recently Goldman Sachs JBWere (GSJBW). Mark joined global investment bank firm GSJBW as a Senior Developer / Analyst in Jan 2007, in Melbourne, Australia where he is currently working in the Securities team on algorithmic trading systems.
Prior to this, Mark had been working internationally for 6 months in the Investment Banking department of UBS in Zurich, Switzerland, on a large J2EE trading and accounting system. Mark's core technical experience resides in Java technologies which he was exposed to from working 4 years as consultant for Object Consulting. In his time at Object Consulting, he was on-site at the NAB for 3 years working in the Corporate Institutional Banking department. Here, Mark worked in a number of capacities including senior developer, team lead, solution architect and project manager. Primarily though he was a senior Java developer that worked on a number of Java/J2EE projects and in his time at the NAB, he was the Java Practice Lead for a period of 1 year. In this role, Mark consulted to all Java projects and was responsible for improving the capability of Java technology in the NAB environment.
Mark is an active member of the software engineering / Java industry and is a member of the Australian Computer Society, is a regular attendee to Enterprise Java Australia (EJA), and is SUN Java accredited.
