As part of my degree course I spent a year on work placement in the IT department of Marks and Spencer in London. As part of the database team I helped to provide support for Microsoft SQL Server on around 100 servers.
My main responsibilities included installation and maintenance of the MS SQL Server software and client software, setting up and maintaining backups and restoring databases when necessary.
