As an unpaid volunteer, I providing strategy consulting and technical direction to Jim Walker's campaign for election to the Santa Ana City Council. My typical daily "job" duties included research, brainstorming sessions, technical planning and logistics as needed to assist Mr. Walker with winning a seat on the Santa Ana City Council. Although he didn't win this year, our combined efforts resulted in garnering about 40% of the votes.

Provided strategy and direction to senior level executives and business owners of the company, identified new opportunities for enhancements to the company's products, wrote use cases and technical specifications, communicated daily with senior executives of the company to set expectations, negotiated with 3rd party vendors, lead cross-functional team meetings, anticipated risks and helped define and manage the scope of all projects during the entire lifecycle of development from conception to completion. In the process I personally created about another 20% of revenue opportunities for the company while protecting the company's long-held reputation and investment into technology.

As a contractor, I helped AVST develop the first part of their Web 2.0 strategy for 2008: a multi-author blog with work flow tools. Additionally, I developed training documentation and presentation materials. The result is a controlled online community for their resellers, encouraging the exchange of ideas between thought leaders in the telecom industry and enabling a direct connection between resellers and senior executives of AVST.
(Information Technology and Services industry)
February 2007 — January 2008 (1 year)
My primary project while at Freedom Interactive was http://www.myochigh.com. I was involved in all aspects of the production of this website from conception to completion. I facilitated months of requirements gathering meetings, wrote the project documentation, created the structure of the system and directly managed a small team of web developers working on the website. I was also involved in the actual programming of the website itself utilizing PHP and MySQL in a multi-tiered, version controlled development environment. Collectively, there were about 40 people involved in this project.
In addition to this website I also wrote specifications and developed a project plan to syndicate the company's http://www.ocvarsity.com website across Freedom Communication's other online properties and led the redevelopment of several other news web sites including http://www.oaoa.com, http://www.shelbystar.com, http://www.tribtown.com, and http://www.gastongazette.com.

I oversaw the development of new products for the company throughout the entire life cycle from strategic planning to managing implementation.

I was also personally involved in the development process as well, helping out with graphics, PHP programming, MySQL database design, and all other logistics as needed.
I was successful in promoting the company through search engine optimization efforts and search engine marketing efforts that have resulted in the company's various websites consistently being ranked in the first page of search results for nearly all relevant keywords on all major search engines.

I planned, developed and promoted the ZapConnect.com website and database since its inception several years ago. The site is a robust SQL database driven by ColdFusion of over 100,000 companies and 80,000 products. It features advanced searching technology that is hundreds of times more accurate than other search engines.I was responsible for all technical operations of the business including the development of the website itself, taking care of the co-located server, networking, hardware, planning, budgeting, and everything else necessary to make the business plan a reality. I also planned out all the marketing strategies, executed those plans, and measured the results of each test plan for effectiveness. The website is used by thousands of people a day in the medical field who find it 80% of the time on other search engines.

The Fishing Alliance (http://www.fishingalliance.com), run by a life-long friend of mine, is a community of hundreds of anglers from all around the United States. I wrote this website in a combination of Cold Fusion and PHP utilizing both Microsoft SQL and MySQL databases. A set of web-based administrative tools I developed enables the owner of the site to manage most of the content of the site without my assistance. Some of the more interesting features of this site include:
- An online store with PayPal integration
- A photo rating system
- A blogging system, editable by the owner of the site
- Hundreds of fishing related articles
- And a Directory of Fishing Related Links
