As the CAR director, I worked with reporters and editors to obtain databases and analyze data for daily stories and long-term investigative projects; developed data and map applications for the newspaper's Web site and intranet; administered Windows and Linux servers; created maps for graphics and online; assisted with various news and technology projects; and trained staff on spreadsheets, databases and how to do Web research.
As a reporter, I covered 19 counties in far Western Kentucky, education, the Kentucky General Assembly, the Louisville police and the federal courts.
