Freelance writer, blogger and editor
Würzburg Area, Germany
I am British, 33 years old and now living in Würzburg, Germany. In the past, I have worked in industries including the Scottish civil service (mainly the Education Department & Justice Department), banking, insurance, tourism, sales, journalism, call centers, marketing and publishing. I have been writing for 19 years and have been published in many publications. I have also done work in Scottish youth radio as a presenter & reporter.
I attended journalism school in England from 1992-1993 and so I am proficient in journalism skills including shorthand, media law, touch-typing & investigative journalism. As part of my journalism training, I worked at various British newspapers and news wire agencies having stories published and gaining valuable work experience. Highlights included making a television programme with the BBC & appearing on BBC radio.
I am now a self-employed English (ESL) teacher & freelance writer. I am also an editor / proofreader / blogger. I am a book proofreader for Project Gutenberg & a regular contributor to Wikipedia. I also write an internet / technology blog is at http://www.betterthantherapy.net & I am an editor at makeuseof.com, in charge of the soon-to-be-expanding writing staff. Furthermore, I am an occasional guest blogger on GoogleTutor.com & http://www.GeeksAreSexy.net .
You can see an almost-full list of my published articles by going to http://www.camelotonline.net/writingarchive.html . I regret I cannot show all my work due to legal agreements with clients and / or the legal copyrights of the work being sold to the client(s).
I am also the former consultant & copywriter for an American e-commerce software company based in Indianapolis, USA. My duties there involved writing their user manuals & blog and moderating their user forum. I also developed marketing materials, promoted the company in Europe and helped to translate their software into German.
