As a technical publications professional, I have worked in the commercial software and electronic design automation industries on a wide variety of platforms and authoring tools. I have a consistent track record of adapting to new technologies and leading others into best-in-class products and solutions. I consistently exceeded job expectations as indicated by awards and performance reviews.
With many years of technical experience and a degree in computer science, I combine excellent communication skills with technical disciplines, generating product content that has won the highest recognition from the Society for Technical Communications (STC) and other organizations.
My goals are to:
* Develop strategies for an organization to design and deliver technical information in concise and useful ways using state-of-the-art methods.
* Apply customer-focused expertise to influence user interface design and user documentation.
* Sharply focus a writing group on business objectives.

Successfully managed a group of 7 technical writers and 1 technical editor, collaborated with a team in India of the same size, and set the direction for SPB documentation. Additionally, coordinated with another Pubs group in a merger with OrCAD. Implemented a phased strategy to converge diverse formats into a consistent information set. Introduced multimedia in documentation to SPB (and later to Cadence). Established customer relations at user group conferences to implement customer-focused continuous improvement in the documentation.

April 1995 — October 1999 (4 years 7 months)
Wrote documentation for the Verilog-XL product line, singularly managing over 2000 pages of information. Redefined the look of documentation by getting Cadence to adopt a new screen capture tool and method. I was asked to join the Silicon-Package-Board (SPB) team because I had the reputation of being a "fire fighter" (a person who is able to come onto a project with little notice and perform well). In October of 1999, I was promoted to manage the SPB writing group.
(Computer Software industry)
1987 — 1995 (8 years )
Analyzed user interface designs for new products. Planned and implemented testing procedures resulting in a more intuitive software product and greater customer satisfaction. Designed multi-platform documentation for system utilities, commands, and layered products. Inherited a maintenance mess for the most widely used Digital manual and turned it into an efficient, easily maintainable project. Reorganized and reduced a system resource monitoring manual, making it more useful, saving nearly 50% of the page count, and significantly reducing production costs.
