I've run music programs in public and private schools, worked as a freelance writer for Southern California newspapers, and spent two years in non-profit organizations. In each of these environments I've adapted, thrived, and loved the work.
I am strongest when I'm leading a team of people with unique skills to accomplish a larger goal. My teaching experience plays a big part in this area for me. The time that I spent directing students toward a musical goal larger than anything we could accomplish on our own truly strengthened my leadership chops.
I love to write, and I really enjoy public speaking opportunities. It's through writing and speaking that I feel most confident in communicating a message. The time that I spent writing for newspapers and speaking for God's Kids solidified these skills for me.
Though I'm not formally trained in marketing, my time as the Marketing Director for God's Kids has given me an education by fire. I've learned to use traditional media like print, radio, and direct mail in coordination with the evolving media of the internet - websites, social media, blogs, and podcasts. It's an exciting world for organizations who want to build a relationship with their stakeholders, and I'm eager to be part of it.
