  • Who Moved My Job?

    • Lulu
    • 2008
    Authors: Mark Hillary

When sheepdogs Winston, Charlie, and Blair find their idyllic life on an English farm disrupted by the arrival of lower-cost foreign herding dogs they embark on an adventure that changes their lives forever. Who Moved My Job? follows these three Border Collies on an adventure through London where they are locked in a home for stray dogs, live rough in a cemetery, and meet a wise old Staffordshire Bull Terrier before eventually finding how to apply the skills they learned on the farm to life in the city. It is a tale for anyone with an interest in globalisation. For anyone with an interest in how jobs and companies are changing. It is a tale for anyone with a job - a job that has yet to move . . .

  • Global Services: Moving to a Level Playing Field

    • British Computer Society
    • 2007

The book examines the current situation and likely future developments in the global services market place. It applies the lessons learned from other industries to the IT services arena. The book recognizes that offshoring is a category of the international trade in services, and a natural development in the ongoing globalization of trade and commerce, rather than a novelty to be feared. It is aimed at an international audience of executives, board level and senior management and at ICT vendors.

  • Building a Future with BRICs

    • Springer
    • 2007
    Authors: Mark Hillary

In 2003, Goldman Sachs published a startling report on the BRICs (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) region: These four countries would be larger than the G6 economics within 40 years, muscling their way to economic dominance over the coming decades, and powering past developed countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan. This book focuses on the technology and technology-enabled services that underpin this social and economic revolution. The editor analyses the reasons why these four countries are in a unique position to lead a 21st century growth in international services. He then features 12 chapters written by the most important chief executives from the BRICs service economy. Indian technology leaders, such as Nandan Nilekani (Infosys), Shiv Nadar (HCL), and Rajendra Pawar (NIIT), feature alongside their peers from Brazil, Russia, and China outlining their views on the next decade for offshoring.

From the reviews of the second edition: "This second edition has been completely revised the publisher claim, with up-to-date information on the latest state of development in the country. … this book still offers valuable information about the IT-enabled service industries in this continent. The current second edition is a useful text for anyone who is looking to the future for involvement with a country that is already making its mark in IT and offers potentially not only a flourishing market but also growing pool of IT workers." (W. R. Howard, Kybernetes, Vol. 37 (1), 2008)

At the same time, it is one of the most talked about and hotly debated topics of our times.
