Mark Ferraro's Summary

I am a Leadership Consultant supporting individuals and teams in transforming their organizations to a healthier place (enterprise performance and individual well-being). By applying a proven transformation roadmap focused on both the sociocultural and the system dimensions, organizations find themselves in a healthier place in a matter of weeks and at a place to independently sustain continuous improvement in 6-9 months.

I have a decade and a half of enterprise experience from many aspects of value creation. I am focused on applying and helping others apply best practices that enable teams to meet and exceed business objectives.

Growing effective Communities of Practice (CoP) is my preferred technique to installing lasting change, which results in a setting for rapid adoption, empowerment, engagement, continuous improvement, increased productivity, organizational learning, and high employee morale. I am committed to working with organizations to meet and exceed their own goals.

CQ (Change Intelligence) is the awareness of one's own Change Leader Style, and the ability to adapt one's style to be optimally effective in leading change across a variety of situations.

The Heart, Head, and Hands of CQ - Your Heartset, Mindset and Skillset as a Change Leader: We each have our own unique Change Leader Style. Our style is comprised of our tendencies to lead with our Heart versus our Head versus our Hands. Powerful Change Leaders "start with the heart," "engage the brain," and "help the hands" move in positive new directions.

No style is better or worse, right or wrong. However, depending on the circumstances, at any given time one style may be more effective in leading change. Awareness of our style can help us adapt to different people and situations and ultimately take action to become more powerful change leaders.

Some Change Leaders have a dominant tendency, and others focus equally on two or even all three components. The most powerful Change Leaders have all three tools in their toolbag, skill in using the tools, and the savvy to deploy the right tools in the right situation. That's CQ! By building Change Intelligence, Change Leaders (from the C-suite to the front line) are able to overcome what looks like resistance, but is really either confusion over the goal (no "head"), lack of connection to the goal (no "heart"), or lack of tactics and training (no "hands") to partner together to work toward the goal.

Conscious Capitalism! Business Agility! Antifragility! How do they interplay in the new reality? Conscious Agility!

Conscious Agility is all-inclusive and embraces the notion that the “human element” is paramount! If you dabble with the so-called “softer stuff” or the so-called “harder stuff,” you’ll be able to leverage Conscious Agility to confront challenges and seize opportunities today and tomorrow concerning people, culture, leadership, organization, strategy, structure, process, portfolios, programs, projects, services, products, brand, creativity, innovation, etc. --- change powered by the human element!

Conscious Agility --- which emerges from Conscious Capitalism, Business Agility, and Antifragility --- is a design-thinking approach for business ecosystems that integrates awareness with intuition, orientation, and improvisation so that individuals and collectives may benefit from uncertainty, disorder, and the unknown.

While Conscious Agility has emerged from our individual and collective experience, and while Conscious Agility is fully rooted in decades of practice across many industry domains, the purpose of this book is to introduce the conceptual underpinning of Conscious Agility but not fully elaborate or provide deep rich examples of its application.
