Mark Bjerknes has managed stock market technology efforts in startup and mature technology and financial services firms for nearly 20 years. He began in the commercial software industry, where he co-created early versions of exploratory data analysis and business intelligence tools. He then joined an exchange trading systems software and consulting firm, and worked on the design and development of one of the first distributed architecture exchange trading systems. After several years working with exchanges around the world, he joined an exchange-affiliated dark pool, ultimately responsible for U.S. equities product management. He later joined Archipelago, where he brokered a key replacement of its trading technology, and became CTO of NYSE's U.S. regulatory division when NYSE acquired Archipelago.

Mark Bjerknes has managed development and implementation of continuous matching, semi-automated matching, and displayed and dark call auction systems for equities and fixed income products. Working with onshore and offshore multi-organizational teams, he has guided trading system development and implementation efforts for floor-based, hybrid and fully automated markets in both national and competing marketplaces, and led full-cycle development and implementation of equities, options and fixed income market surveillance systems.
