I am currently working with the global Knowledge Management/Market Data group. Previously the team was only in San Francisco and London, I was hired to start the technical team in Sydney.

Responsibilities

• Direct manager of Design & Development Engineers in Sydney and Singapore
• Primary maintainer/developer of two web-based interfaces to market data
• Development of batch systems that communicate with external vendors and BGI systems
- Design, implementation and modification of scripts and core frameworks
- Liaison with analysts, researchers and clients
• Resolution of scalability issues
• Mentoring of junior developers, support and QA engineers
• Part of Asia-Pac IT escalation team

Achievements

I have identified and resolved critical software and database scalability issues. Some of these changes have delivered order of magnitude improvements to throughput.

Re-designed and re-implemented software build process which is assisting in our migration to Linux from Solaris.

Based on this analysis, I designed and implemented a software system for the company that enabled my client to retain a government contract and reduce shipping costs.
• Successfully re-established telecommunication and network services to a financial client’s New York office after September 11 2001.
