The Marietta Redevelopment Corporation (MRC) seeks to facilitate public financing of redevelopment projects using local, state and federally funded incentive programs. Among these programs, the MRC has focused on the use of Tax Allocation Districts (TADs), the Marietta Fund for Neighborhood and Community Revitalization (the Fund), New Market Tax Credits (NMTC) and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds when possible.
These programs are all intended to assist with redevelopment and revitalization of Marietta through financing of:
Infrastructure including roads, underground power utilities, water and sewer lines; Demolition of buildings including substandard apartments; Construction of public facilities including parking decks
STRATEGIC GOALS
1. From its inception the MRC has assisted the City Council with the implementation of its redevelopment expectation for Marietta. The City’s vision evolves as progress is made through implementation of Marietta’s comprehensive redevelopment strategy. The MRC’s goals are similar to the City Council’s goals and the needs of the community.
2. Utilize the Marietta Fund for Neighborhood and Community Revitalization (the Fund) resources in areas to reduce the number nonproductive properties to produce an immediate positive impact on neighborhoods.
3. Carefully evaluate redevelopment opportunities and re-use options for assembled properties and manage property disposition in a manner that maximizes benefits to the City.
4. Leverage the Fund with federal and state economic development housing resources funds to advance redevelopment objectives.
5. Work closely with the private sector to identify and assemble parcels for redevelopment to enhance the City’s influence on density and physical characteristics of future redevelopment projects.
6. Encourage the success of redevelopment projects that have already been initiated and supported with public investment.

MISSION The principal mission of the MRC is to strengthen the economic and residential base of the City by revitalizing neighborhoods, commercial areas and other distressed properties. ROLE OF CORPORATION The MRC’s primary roles are to advise the City Council on redevelopment matters, to facilitate efforts by the private sector to invest in the community, to make strategic real estate investments in blighted areas and to assemble properties for redevelopment where needed.
