- Coordination of the P&IDs (piping and Instrumentation diagrams) development and review of the Bis-Phenol A (BPA) plant;
- Liaising with client, technology licensor and other project disciplines in process related subjects;
- Participation in the P&IDs joint review meetings with the client as the process department representative;
- Tutoring of a junior engineer;
- Coordination of the operations manual development;
- Participation in several other process activities, such as: development and review of PFD’s and data sheets; participation in HAZOP related activities, development of process flow schemes, reviewing simulation results, development of mass and heat balances; implementation of process specifications to equipments, etc.

Analyzing existing processes, identifying bottlenecks and proposing practical solutions, in order to improve global plant efficiency and reduce its operating costs. Main activities developed included:
- Two months working rotating shifts with operations personnel, doing plant operation data recompilation;
- HDPE plant modeling, using the simulation software Aspen PolymersTM and the actual operation plant data. Optimization of the operation conditions in the hexane distillation and recovery area for each product grade;
- Development of conceptual studies and basic engineering package of small plant modifications, with the objective of minimizing the production of low molecular weight polymer (sub product of the
polymerization reaction). Estimated product margin increase of 15%-25% depending on the polymer grade.
The first 10 months were dedicated to extensive training at ISE (see Education section).
