Master Corporal Paul Franklin is professional soldier, husband, father and an inspiration to all who meet him. I had the priviledge of getting to know him during my tenure at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) in early 2008. While organizing key defence trade events in the United States, I coordinated his activities with senior members of the Canadian Forces as part of our combined mandate to educate U.S. military personnel and the U.S. public of the Canadian mission in Afghanistan.
Master Corporal Paul Franklin became one of the voices of the Canadian Forces at several high-level events in the United States that I organized and we quickly became friends. After a meeting with Paul Franklin and Dr. Jackie S. Hebert in Ottawa, I was asked to lend my support and expertise in expanding the mandate of NAAP to include a national strategy under the banner of the Franklin Fund, which is the first step towards receiving our independent charitable status.
